ACT and SAT testing may return to normal after unpredictable 2020
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Most college applicants work to achieve the highest ACT or SAT test score they possibly can, but pandemic applicants are just hoping to secure a test date without it getting canceled.
According to local tutoring company Test Geek ACT and SAT Prep, things are looking better in 2021.
"This year's junior class and subsequent classes are probably going back to normal unless COVID goes in a direction we don't see it going right now," said Zack Robinson, founder of Test Geek.
Robinson anticipates the national SAT test scheduled for March 13 and the statewide SAT test set for April 13 will happen as planned. If so, it will be a huge shift toward normalcy for high school upperclassmen.
"The worst thing is when you have a student call up and say, 'look I have put a total of 75 or 80 hours into this, I thought I was having this really big test on this day and it’s cancelled and I don’t know when I’m going to take it again,'" Robinson said.
In 2020, the springtime standardized tests were postponed until the fall. Then in the fall, the College Board didn't cancel the tests, but many of the testing sites did.
Colleges and universities have adjusted admissions and scholarship policies to get by without ACT or SAT scores. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs still says test scores are encouraged, but not required.
