Shoe prints in snow lead Pueblo County deputies to theft suspect

An 18-year-old man from Colorado Springs might have learned the importance of "covering your tracks" after he was caught in connection with a motor vehicle theft because of his shoe prints in the snow in Pueblo West.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, a car was reported stolen out of Colorado Springs, and deputies got information from OnStar that the vehicle was in the area of E. Abarr Drive and S. Wiggins Drive.

When deputies got to the vehicle, they found it unoccupied, but they found a set of shoe prints in the snow leading away from the vehicle, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

Deputies followed the prints and found two people walking along the side of the road. The deputies noticed that the shoe prints matched the shoes being worn by Anthony Lamkin.

Lamkin told deputies that he was driven to Pueblo West by a friend near that stolen vehicle. Lamkin eventually admitted to entering the vehicle to see what was inside, and deputies found items inside his backpack that belonged to the owner of the vehicle.

Lamkin was arrested for felony aggravated motor vehicle theft and theft.
