Officials provide an update on the 403 Fire Friday morning

FLORISSANT, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Teller County Sheriff's Office provided an update on the 403 Fire, burning along the Park and Teller County line.

According to officials, the fire has not officially moved into Teller County, but the sheriff's office and crews are prepared for when that might happen.

So far, the 415 Fire has burned 1,100 acres and is 0% contained. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials know the fire was first reported just before 11 a.m. Thursday.

There are mandatory evacuations in place, as of the last update, the evacuation zones were mostly neighborhoods surrounding Florissant. Those evacuations have affected between 30 and 40 residents so far.

Anyone who needs to return to the evacuation zone to pick up essentials or animals is asked to stop at any roadblock. They will be escorted back in for a brief period.

Here are the current road closures:

  • County Road 403
  • County Road 98
  • East of County Road 61

Donations are being accepted. Please drop them off at the Lake George Fire Protection District at 8951 Co Rd 90, Lake George, CO 80827.

As of 8:15 a.m., smoke was not visible from the Florissant Fire Protection District on Highway 24.
