Car fire causes backup on I-25 at Mesa Ridge Parkway

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) — A car fire backed up traffic on I-25 Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 1:27 p.m. between South Academy Boulevard (Exit 135) and CO 16; Mesa Ridge Parkway (Exit 132).

A Colorado State Patrol Trooper said the family inside the car got out, and no one was hurt. Firefighters extinguished the fire and also took precautions to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby grass.

The highway is open in both directions in that area.
