Air Force Academy Major found not guilty after ex-wife made accusation of child abuse
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (KRDO) - An Air Force Academy Major has been cleared of accusations of child sexual abuse after court-martial proceedings concluded this week.
Maj. Travis Burns' attorneys told KRDO last year that his ex-wife lobbed allegations of child rape against him in an effort to sway a custody battle.
Burns was accused and court-martialed, even though a Colorado Springs Police Department investigation led to no criminal charges. Burns' lawyers say CSPD "declined to prosecute his case because of an absence of probable cause."
On Tuesday, Burns was found not guilty of all charges by a military judge. The court-martial began on Aug. 10.
