Four arrested in Colorado Springs copper theft investigation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Four people involved in an ongoing metal and retail theft case were arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD says detectives took several suspects into custody around 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 12 after they attempted to stop a car related to the ongoing case. The vehicle ran, but officers were able to track the car to the 4200 block of North Nevada Avenue with the help of drones.

According to officials, detectives watched the suspects enter an apartment where a tactical team was able to get all the occupants out of the apartment. After a search warrant was executed, CSPD says they found further evidence of the copper theft.

While executing the search warrant, officers say another "prolific offender" walked by and was taken into custody for outstanding warrants. In total, four people were arrested for felony warrants and one for misdemeanor warrants including money laundering, theft, felony eluding, criminal mischief and drug charges.

Those arrested were:

• Ryan Monteith, 29
• Brittany Grant, 37
• Anthony Alfaro, 44
• Sara Warren, 40

CSPD says that the arrests related to the metal theft were part of an ongoing investigation.
