Man arrested for stalking, then assaulted a peace officer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man has been arrested for stalking and assaulting a peace officer after an altercation with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD says Cory Ewald was arrested Monday after officers and Tactical Enforcement Unit officers were responding to a call in the 10 block of Elm Avenue around 12:20 p.m. Ewald had reportedly made threats to find and kill the victims, and claimed to have a gun and was coming to where the victim lived.

Officials say Ewald was threatening a former employer. Officers located Ewald trying to leave the residence and placed him into custody, and charged him with two counts of stalking.

Ewald was transported to the Police Operations Center for processing when he allegedly struck an officer on the wrist. Ewald was then booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
