Large cocaine stash seized in joint CSPD, DEA operation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Seven pounds of cocaine have been seized after a joint Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Metro Narcotics Street team and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Colorado Springs Regional Office operation.

According to officials, an eight-month-long investigation ended after two search warrants were served in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, July 7.

A DEA task force and CSPD Tactical Enforcement Unit served warrants at 2400 Payne Circle West and 1100 Hathaway Drive, officials say. Both addresses were tied to larger drug trafficking organizations based in Mexico, says CSPD.

Around 110,000 fentanyl pills, seven pounds of cocaine, two and a half pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of powder fentanyl were seized, according to officials.

CSPD says around $100,000, seven rifles and three pistols were found as well. Three of those firearms were reported as stolen.

CSPD says Jacob Tardiff, Martin Medina and Rogerio Barraza-Mendoza were arrested as part of the operation.
