Police find suspect sitting outside a coffee shop after robbing a bank in downtown Colorado Springs

El Paso County Sheriff's Office

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A bank was robbed around lunchtime in downtown Colorado Springs. Police say the suspect was taken into custody without incident after he was found sitting in front of a nearby coffee shop.

At about 12:27 p.m. an older white male robbed a bank near the intersection of East Pikes Peak Ave. and South Tejon St, police say.

The man -- identified as 65-year-old David Wayne Oliver -- threatened the use of a weapon and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, police confirmed.

He was then found sitting outside of a coffee shop and taken into custody without incident.

A picture of the suspect is not available at the time of publication.
