Funeral services announced for Pueblo Police Corporal who died in boating accident

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Funeral services for a Pueblo Police Corporal who died in a boating accident last month will take place Wednesday.

In a statement, PPD said family, friends and fellow officers will honor "the life and service" of Cpl. Stephen Biggs during the services at Praise Assembly of God in Pueblo. The services will be livestreamed, and police said that information will be provided by the church.

Times of the services were not immediately known.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Biggs' body was found during the early hours of Monday, Sept. 28 at Lake Pueblo State Park. The discovery was made after he was reported missing the night before and after an hours-long search was conducted, officials said.

Pueblo police said Biggs started working with the department in October 2010, serving as a patrol training officer and a member of the SWAT team. He received 10 letters of commendation, three Medal of Valor awards and the Distinguished Service award, the department said.
