Woman arrested for second-degree murder after reporting dead body, according to police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A 62-year-old woman has been arrested after police found a dead man inside a home on Tappan Drive. Sheldon “Shelly” Wilson faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with a deceased body, according to police.

The investigation began on Saturday after two adult women arrived at the Police Operations Center to report a dead body inside the home. Officers responded to the address and located the deceased man, prompting detectives from the Homicide Unit to take over the case.

Wilson was one of the two women who originally reported the dead man to law enforcement at the Police Operations Center.

The identity of the male victim has not been released pending identification. Authorities have not stated the relationship between the victim and Wilson, nor has the identity of the second woman been made public.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office will make the final determination on the victim's cause and manner of death, as well as establish positive identification.
