Goldie the Goat to appear in ‘Adventure Day’ event at Cheyenne Mountain State Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Saturday is Colorado's 150th birthday, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is celebrating with "Adventure Day" at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
On top of the all-day, hands-on festivities being planned by CPW, a local celebrity is making a special appearance. Goldie the Goat, who went viral after leading Colorado Springs firefighters towards a hotspot in the "Rock Creek" fire, will be there to do a meet-and-greet with visitors.
The event runs on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
KRDO13 spoke with Goldie the Goat and her family ahead of her big event on Saturday.
Goldie's owners picked her up from Facebook Marketplace five months ago. Her dad happens to be a volunteer firefighter with the Southwest Highway 115 Fire Protection District, so firefighting is in her blood.
"It's nice when you're up there doing a lot of hard things to have something that makes you smile and laugh, and be there with you through it all," Pete Glader said.
The rest of Goldie's family say it's been exciting having a goat that is so goofy, and seeing her bring joy to others has been the best part of her fame. They say it was unexpected to have a famous goat, but getting to see the joy she brought first responders after grueling work days was worth it.
"She just got so much attention. It was really fun and exciting to see the smiles on the firefighters' faces when they came back," Goldie's mom, Lindsay Glader said.
Goldie did her part to help graze hotspots and stop things from spreading. Her owners say she has become more attached to humans recently, and went up with first responders while they were fighting the fire.
Goldie was battling an infection recently, according to her Facebook page, but has been feeling better and is ready to meet fans on Saturday. On top of getting to meet Goldie, visitors at Cheyenne Mountain State Park will have the chance to learn about outdoor activities and skills with CPW.
