Colorado Parks and Wildlife celebrating Colorado’s birthday with ‘Adventure Day’

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is celebrating the state's 150th anniversary at Cheyenne Mountain State Park next weekend.

CPW is hosting its annual "Adventure Day" on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a free event at the state park full of outdoor activities. Visitors will get to try a range of hands-on activities, including archery, rock wall climbing, hatchet throwing and a BB gun marksmanship range, according to organizers.

CPW says there will also be a special visitor, "Goldie the Goat," who went viral after guiding Colorado Springs firefighters to parts of the "Rock Creek Canyon" fire recently.

CPW is also hosting prize raffles throughout the day for any guests with a valid Colorado State Parks pass.

Passes can be purchased at the park, online or at regional offices.

"Adventure Day" is free for all visitors.
