Pueblo County launches portal for ‘Aspen Acres’ fire victims

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo County has opened a disaster survivor portal for victims of the "Aspen Acres" fire currently burning in Pueblo and Custer counties.

The portal, which is linked on the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) emergency alert page, allows evacuees to report any damage to their property as well as any post-disaster needs.

The form will request personal information, such as where the evacuee is currently sheltered, the extent of the damage, and any specific needs of the person submitting the claim.

PCSO says the form is not a direct application for assistance.

Officials say to visit the local Disaster Assistance Center at the Pueblo Academy of Arts at 29 Lehigh Ave. in Pueblo for any evacuees who need immediate assistance. The center is open to both Pueblo and Custer County residents who have been evacuated or impacted by the wildfire.

Proof of residence is needed to enter the center, according to the PCSO website. The center can provide food and support to victims, in collaboration with the Red Cross and United Way of Southern Colorado.
