Colorado Springs Police Department

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Coroners' Office has identified the driver killed in a crash near the intersection of Barnes Road and Peterson Road on Monday as 41‑year‑old Michael Michaelis.

Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says they responded to the crash around 10 a.m. on June 22, where they discovered that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Barnes Road had collided with one traveling northbound on Peterson Road.

Michaelis was driving the northbound vehicle and was ejected during the crash, according to police.

Police say Michaelis was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the eastbound vehicle was not injured, according to officials.

CSPD confirms that two minors were also involved in the crash, and one sustained minor injuries, with the other obtaining non-life-threatening injuries.
