Showers and thunderstorms possible each day this week with smoky skies

Tonight we will see mostly cloudy skies with patchy smoke for most areas of southern Colorado. We do have a chance of showers and thunderstorms early in the evening. It will be on the breezy side with southeast winds at around 5 to 15 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s.

Wednesday will bring us a good chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. We do have a Flash Flood Watch that goes into effect on Wednesday at noon and will remain in place through 8 p.m. That is mainly for the burn areas of the "Aspen Acres" fire. Some of the storms will have the potential to drop heavy rain.

We could see some severe storms out on the Eastern Plains. Highs will hover in the lower 90s for the Pikes Peak Region and warmer temperatures out east.

Our chance of afternoon showers and storms continues on Thursday and Friday, with highs near 90 degrees. We do have the potential for heavy rain. Some of the storms that do develop on the Eastern Plains may be on the severe side, with large hail possible.

We dry out for the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Expect highs in the lower 90s with a lot of sunshine.
