Fan Fest takes over Downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Ahead of the 104th race, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Fan Fest took over Downtown Colorado Springs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

"This is one of our favorite things about Colorado Springs. It's an annual event. I've always been a car enthusiast, and then my son, he's next up with the next generation," said Frederick Carter while carrying his son Huxley on his shoulders.

Fans came out to see the cars, the teams helping them get race-ready, and the drivers behind the wheel.

"You don't always see a ton of fans up on the mountain just because everybody's so spread out. So it's really cool to see everybody packed in here," JR Hildebrand said.

"This is our first time. I hope not, not last time," Maciej Serafin said. Serafin on Sunday will become the first-ever Polish Driver to compete in the hill climb.

"I'm a two-time champion of Europe. I'm a four-time champion in Poland. But I've never seen this race. This is totally another race. You know, this is the dangerous race in the world," Serafin said.

Fans also got to watch the motorbike stunt group KSFMX perform high-flying tricks in the middle of Tejon Street.
