Two-time kangaroo escapee hops into Durango police custody once again

DURANGO, Colo. (KRDO) - A Durango kangaroo is making headlines yet again after escaping and leading police on a roundup mission.

The kangaroo made its first reported escape last October. Police said the animal, named Irwin, is someone's pet, which is legal in Colorado.

During its first escape, the kangaroo was in a diaper, but it looks like the animal has grown up since the first outing.

On Monday, police say they had yet another run-in with the 'roo after it was spotted in a backyard.

"Applause to Ofc. Garrison who flexed and showed us who could lift the not-so-little guy (who definitely grew since our last encounter)," wrote the department in a post on social media.

The department called Irwin its "most unexpected repeat offender."
