Colorado Springs City Council to hold vote to censure Councilman Dave Donelson

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Springs City Council will hold a meeting to determine whether or not to remove Councilman Dave Donelson off of the multiple boards and commissions he currently serves. The meeting is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. at the Colorado Springs City Council Chambers on July 2, 2024.

The meeting comes just one week after Donelson called out several of his fellow councilmembers who received campaign funding from developers. Donelson asked the councilmembers in question to recuse themselves from an upcoming vote on a proposed apartment complex. According to City Council President Randy Helms, Donelson's actions were a breach of decorum.

Donelson has admitted to receiving donations from developers during a previous run for state office, but he claims he did not receive donations during his run for city counselor.

The vote to remove Donelson comes after City Council voted down his proposal for a building height limit in the city. Donelson says that vote is what caused him to look into campaign contributions for his fellow councilmembers.
