President Biden visits CS Wind in Pueblo to tout Inflation Reduction Act benefits
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) - President Joe Biden visited CS Wind, the largest wind tower manufacturer in the world, after the company recently announced a major expansion and credited Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.
Earlier this month, CS Wind announced a $200 million expansion that will include 850 new jobs. The South Korean company's chairman, Gim Seong Gon, said the expansion is a direct result of the Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law in August 2022.
"Instead of exporting jobs, companies both foreign and domestic, are creating jobs here in America and exporting American made products," Biden said.
Biden specifically chose CS Wind to showcase the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act, because Pueblo is part of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's district, who voted against the bill and called it a "massive failure."
Biden said if Boebert got her way, Colorado would have missed out on hundreds of new jobs.
"She called this law a massive failure," he said. "You all know you're part of a massive failure? Tell that to the 850 Coloradans who get new jobs in Pueblo at CS Wind thanks to this law. Tell that to the local economy that's going to benefit from this investment."
In a statement, Boebert said her district residents are "being crushed by so-called 'Bidenomics.' On Joe Biden's watch, credit card debt, inflation, groceries, and gas prices have all reached record highs."
"Joe Biden continues to pander to radical extremists, lock up more land, and spend his time focused on campaign stunts and vacations rather than doing the job he was elected to do," Boebert said in the statement.
She said the Inflation Reduction Act mandated Green New Deal policies and cost taxpayers "hundreds of billions of dollars." She called on Biden to work with her to pass her Pueblo Jobs Act that she said will create 1,000 new jobs in Pueblo.
Since taking office, Biden said he has created 14 million new jobs, including 250,000 in Colorado. He also announced CS Wind workers would be receiving a year-end bonus because of the investment incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act.
"When we invest in our people, we strengthen the middle class," Biden said. "We start to see stronger economic growth for all Americans, not just America. Everybody grows."
