Deconstruction of Toll Plaza begins Oct. 20, at Denver International Airport

KRDO

DENVER, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Denver International Airport (DEN) has announced the deconstruction of the Toll Plaza on Peña Boulevard.

DEN officials stated the Plaza hasn’t really served a concrete purpose since opening in 1993 and has had many uses from being a toll collection station to a storage facility.

Officials added recent advances in the DEN’s technology and the construction of a more efficient parking system, eliminated the need for toll booths and the building became obsolete in 2000—sitting idle for the past 20 years.
Deconstruction efforts will begin Friday, October 20, and will take six to eight weeks to complete. After, the site will be turned into dedicated turnaround lanes for emergency vehicles and DEN snow removal equipment.
