Preliminary reports indicate that broken rail caused train derailment north of Pueblo
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) says that preliminary information shows that a broken rail east of the bridge on I-25 caused a train derailment on Sunday.
According to the NTSB, investigators will continue to determine the cause of the broken rail and why warnings systems did not alert the crews to the condition of the track.
This is an ongoing investigation.
I-25 will remain closed for the foreseeable future while crews continue to clean up.
