Pueblo School District 60 welcomes students back with new facilities
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- On Tuesday, August 15, kids in Pueblo are getting ready to head out for school and it’s the first day of school for the entirety of School District 60.
As K-12 students make their way to the classrooms, not only are they going back to see their friends and teachers, but many are going back to remodeled buildings and completely new schools.
The brand new Centennial High School building is welcoming students today and it’s been a long time coming following renovation. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Pueblo.
It’s been over 60 years since Pueblo schools have seen modifications to their buildings overall.
This school year, five schools across the City will be greeting their kids with new facilities and new technology.
It’s all part of a plan to help renovate Pueblo schools across the city–with an emphasis on those located on the south side of Pueblo.
Those five new schools include:
- Centennial High School
- East High School
- Franklin School of Innovation
- Sunset Park Elementary
- Nettie S. Freed K-8 Expeditionary School
Both the Franklin School of Innovation and Sunset Park Elementary School had their open house the week Aug. 7 to show parents and students the new buildings.
