Colorado Springs man accused of killing teen coworker pleads not guilty

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The 28-year-old man accused of killing his high school coworker pleaded not guilty Tuesday in court.

In June, the body of 17-year-old Riley Whitelaw was found in the backroom of a Colorado Springs Walgreens. Her accused killer, 28-year-old Joshua Johnson, was found and taken into custody by Colorado State Patrol on I-25 near Walsenburg.

Tuesday, Johnson was back in court for an arraignment. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Johnson is set to appear in court again on Jan. 27, 2023, for a motions hearing.

A pre-trial hearing is set to begin on Feb. 7, 2023, and the trial date is set for March 6, 2023.
