Cheyenne Mountain Zoo sees big turnout for ‘Boo at the Zoo’
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- This Halloween families can celebrate by trick or treating at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo during the Boo at the Zoo event.
Leaders from the Zoo said this seven-day celebration has been one for the books. With more than 15,000 people attending the week-long event, employees at the zoo are excited to host the last Boo at the Zoo event of the year.
"Just come and see the zoo kind of in a different light, after hours," said Rachel Write, public relation officer at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
This Halloween, kids can go to 29 different stands to show their costumes and collect candy.
"People get really creative. We love to see it. We have people who of course dress up like the animals, their favorite animals," Wright said.
And on top of it being a fun annual event for the entire family, since its launch in 2008, 'Boo at the Zoo' has raised $4 million for front-line wildlife conservation efforts.
"So you can come to the zoo have a great time, make memories with your family, and enjoy your zoo and also know you're helping save wildlife in wild places," Wright added.
The event starts at 4 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m. Monday, October, 31. Families will also be able to meet the newest member of the zoo, a two-week-old giraffe.
Today was her first day out with the rest of the herd, so guests can see her in action alongside her mom.
