New York Times bestselling author donates $20,000 to Pueblo City-County Library District
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo City-County Library District (PCCLD) received a generous donation from a New York Times bestselling author.
According to library officials, Kristin Hannah donated $20,000 to go towards the library district. Hannah has written more than 20 novels, two of which have been adapted for the screen.
In a statement from her agent provided to the PCCLD, the donation is to ensure that members of the public have a greater opportunity to get a free copy of her books. More than 1,000 books have been purchased, thanks to her donation.
“Kristin Hannah’s generosity is incredibly generous. When we were contacted by her agent we were initially in disbelief, but quickly began plans to purchase and distribute books to the community,” said Nick Potter, director of Community Relations for the library district in a press release.
The PCCLD is also hosting a free special online public author talk with Hannah on Saturday, Nov. 5. at the Robert Hoag Rawlings Public Library and the Pueblo West Library.
Books are available during the author talk on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are asked to register beforehand. You can do so by clicking here.
The talk with Hannah will also stream on the Pueblo Library's main Facebook and YouTube pages.
In addition to the free public author talk, Hannah is the featured guest for the annual Booklovers Ball, a fundraiser for the Pueblo Library Foundation. The Booklovers Ball will be streamed online at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.
The PPCLD says viewers can also purchase a wellness box that includes a mug and tea set, dessert, a gratitude journal, mindfulness activities, and more. During the event, people can submit questions. Tickets can be purchased here.
