Boebert’s GOP primary opponent endorses Democrat Frisch in District 3 race
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- It's a district that leans conservative, but could Congresswoman Lauren Boebert lose control of her Colorado District 3 seat in the United States House of Representatives?
Poll numbers from Keating Research, which has a B/C rating from pollster rater FiveThirtyEight, show the race may be getting closer than it was once thought to be, and now another blow is coming to the sitting congresswoman.
Republican moderate Don Coram ran against Boebert in the Republican primary and lost by more than 30 percentage points. But, now, Coram has come out in favor of Boebert's opponent, Democrat Adam Frisch.
In her ads, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's campaign shows dollar bills falling from the sky, trying to portray Frisch as a rich, out-of-touch Democrat, who doesn't care about rural Colorado.
That money though is likely keeping this race competitive.
"I'm certainly not surprised that an Aspen millionaire is bringing in quite a bit of fundraising," Boebert told KRDO. "That's not surprising at all, especially when he came out on the campaign trail lying and telling voters that he was a moderate."
Coram though is tired of that rhetoric, and the controversial congresswoman.
"I am sick with the antics of the extreme left. I am sick with the antics of the extreme right. I can't do anything about the extreme left in other states, but I can make my opinion known in the third congressional district," he said.
To have a shot, Frisch believes he needs to collect 10 percent of the Republican primary voters. He thinks Wednesday's endorsement could do that.
"I think it'll be huge. I think senator Coram is incredibly well respected on the western slope," said Frisch.
On issues, Boebert says Frisch has misled the public on his positions, claiming Frisch says he's a conservative when he's a " radical leftist."
Frisch though, says he is conservative on issues like energy and less government regulation. But ultimately Frisch says he wants to beat Boebert for the same reason as Coram: partisanship and extremism.
"People are sick and tired of this anger-tainment industry," he said.
