EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- During a crash investigation Thursday, an officer with the Fountain Police Department was possibly exposed to fentanyl.

Thursday evening a crash on I-25, just outside of Colorado Springs, temporarily closed all southbound lanes.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, southbound I-25 closed between Exit 132 - Mesa Ridge Parkway and US 85 at 5:16 p.m.

Colorado State Patrol said the crash involved at least two vehicles and caused minor injuries. According to CSP, the driver that caused the crash is in custody and suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

While searching the suspect's vehicle, the Fountain Police Department (FPD) said an officer became dizzy and lightheaded.

He was then taken to a hospital.

According to the FPD, a substance in the car tested positive for fentanyl.

Later Thursday night, FPD said that the officer was doing fine.
