CSPD: Man sustains serious injuries after being struck in the head with machete, suspect outstanding

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was struck with a machete early Sunday morning in Colorado Springs, sustaining serious injuries, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Just before 4:20 a.m. Colorado Springs police officers were dispatched to a report of an assault in-progress near 8100 N Academy Blvd.

According to police, the reporting party said a male had been struck with a machete, and the suspect had fled the area.

Officers from the Falcon and Gold Hill Divisions responded and located a man with a severe laceration to his head, and was taken to a local hospital. The victim's injuries consisted of a laceration and fractured skull, constituting serious bodily injury, CSPD said.

The suspect has been identified as Timothy Lott, who has an outstanding arrest warrant for attempted first degree murder.

Police said this incident is an isolated event, resulting from a domestic violence related situation.
