Young sisters start lemonade stand to raise money for Springs Rescue Mission

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Two sisters held a lemonade stand in Colorado Springs to raise more than $1,000 for the Springs Rescue mission on W Las Vegas street and the Marian House on W Bijou street.

The little philanthropists, 7-year-old Nora and 4-year-old Josie divided up their proceeds and donated $531 to the Rescue Mission and the remainder to the Marian House.

The Rescue Mission told KRDO the money provided more than 200 meals for the facility's homeless population.

The Springs Rescue Mission's Chief Development Officer Travis Williams said that the girls' initiative and generosity are inspiring to everyone at the mission.

"Nora and Josie are the heartbeat of this community," Williams said. Adding, even if they couldn't change everyone's lives, the young girls certainly changed at least one.

"They ended up providing over 212 meals to people who are suffering in Colorado Springs."
