Pueblo woman reunited with dog after attack

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- It's a happy ending for a Pueblo woman who had her dog stolen last week when she was attacked by two strangers -- the dog, Roxy, has been reunited with her owner.

We reported last week when Molly Leri was attacked on E. Evans Ave. Leri says two women got out of the vehicle and proceeded to attack her, and went to grab the leash for her puppy. The dog owner says one of the girls proceeded to yell, "This is my dog now!" Leri's dog was taken into a getaway car, and the suspects drove off.

"I was devastated. They left me here standing in the middle of the parking lot. I'm yelling and screaming. I was devastated," Leri said.

Tuesday evening, Pueblo resident Jen Keleher posted in a Facebook group for Pueblo's lost and found pets that she found Roxy on her front porch. Then, Molly and Roxy were together again.

It was awesome. I cried so hard. She's my best friend she is my companionship. I live by myself so its been really hard," Leri said.

Keleher was simply happy to help reunite the pitbull and her owner.

"It's a super happy feeling. I would want someone to do it for my dog. I just like to see the pups get home," Keleher said. "They have feelings too. They need help too. It's a great feeling, I love helping pueblo's lost and found animals."

Pueblo police said last week it was investigating the case, but no suspects have been identified at this time.
