COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) --Doherty High School girls basketball coach George Pollard appeared in court for the first time Monday, facing charges of sexual assault against a child.

During the investigation, authorities learned Pollard was a coach at Doherty High School (District 11) as well as a paraprofessional employed by Academy School District 20. Pollard has been the coach at Doherty for just one season
Now, he's been suspended by District 11 and Academy School District 20.
Academy School District 20 released a statement on Sunday regarding the arrest stating Pollard has been placed on administrative leave and that the 16-year-old victim was not a student in their district. The statement also said the alleged assault did not happen on campus.
Pollard has also been suspended indefinitely from his volunteer coaching position for a Colorado Springs club basketball program. P.L.U.T.O Basketball confirmed to NewsChannel 13 that Pollard only volunteered with the boys' program, and did not coach or have interactions with the girls' teams.
