Colorado Rockies host Opening Day 2.0 with full capacity crowd

DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- Coors Field announced Wednesday the Colorado Rockies have been approved by the city, state, and Major League Baseball to host a full-capacity crowd.

Beginning Monday, June 28, 50,000 fans will be allowed in the stands at Coors Field.

To celebrate this new development, the Rockies decided the June 28 game against the Pittsburgh Pirates will be Opening Day 2.0.

Roughly 21,000 fans were in attendance to watch the Rockies on Opening Day on April 1. The Rockies opened the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers, winning 8-5.

Opening Day 2.0 will mark the first full-capacity crowd at Coors Stadium since the pandemic began.

The game will start at 3:10 p.m. and it will include traditional pregame fanfare, beginning at 2:30 p.m. That includes fireworks during the national anthem.
