Cog Railway tickets on sale for May re-opening

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- After being closed for more than three years, the Cog Railway is set to reopen at the end of May. Tickets for the opening are now on sale.

According to its website, on the first day, May 20th, people can take the scenic nine-mile journey to the top of Pikes Peak.

Standard ticket costs are $58 for adults and $48 for children,12-years-old and younger. Guests may select specific seats on the train by upgrading to the reserved seating option for $68 for adults and $58 for children.

As for COVID-19 precaution, workers say the train will be sanitized in-between stops. It will be operating at 100 percent capacity, meaning there may not be social distancing if every seat is sold per ride.

When asked if masks would be required, workers say they are following Colorado's mask mandate. However, in mid-April, the state announced they are relaxing health orders and giving those decisions back to cities and counties.

A few years ago, the railway was closed because of necessary repairs to keep the railway safe for passengers.
