Liberty advances to state semi-finals

The Liberty Lancers won a thrilling match over rival Pine Creek, 2-1, to advance to the 5A state semi-finals.

Liberty opened the scoring with a first half goal from Milas Norwood. Liberty carried a 1-0 lead into intermission.

Mauricio Reyes tacked on a goal early in the second half to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead.

Pine Creek answered when John Murdock scored on a header to pull the Eagles to within 2-1. That's as close as they would get, however, as the Lancers defense held on from there.

The Lancers advance to the semi-finals for the first time as a 5A team.
