Suspect apprehended following potential threat against Liberty High School online

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Monday afternoon, Liberty High School and Timberview Middle School went on lockout following a potential threat made against the high school.

The Academy District 20 schools initially went in a lockout just before 12 p.m.

The district says they learned of a potential threat against Liberty High School made on social media. The high school's administration contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department and ASD20 Security.

According to the district, CSPD apprehended the suspect after a thorough investigation Monday evening.

The district says everyone is safe now, and thanked students and staff for maintaining focus during the lockout.

Timberview Middle School was put on a lockout because of the close proximity to the high school.

Being under lockout is not the same as a lockdown. A lockout means:

  • The perimeter of the school is secured
  • All students remain indoors
  • All perimeter doors are locked
  • Attendance is taken
  • School runs normally

No word on the specific threat made or who made the threat.
