COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in El Paso County, hospitalization rates appear to be steadily increasing too.

County health officials have said that the initial surge of COVID-19 cases earlier this year resulted in more at-risk and older adults contracting coronavirus.

However, at this time, it appears the virus is largely shifting and impacting a younger demographic. El Paso County also recently saw its highest daily number of positive COVID-19 cases.

Tonight on KRDO NewsChannel 13 and five and six we'll hear from a local hospital administrator about what they are seeing and how they are preparing for a possible surge in COVID-19 patients.
