MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Manitou Springs School District announced Wednesday that several of its schools will be moving to remote learning temporarily due to positive coronavirus cases. The changes are expected to last until Monday, Oct. 19.

Manitou Springs Elementary and Ute Pass Elementary School

Both schools will begin remote learning on Friday, Oct. 9. On Thursday, staff will prepare for remote learning, meaning students will learn from home while teachers are on campus. Principals will be coordinating efforts Thursday to make sure each child has access to an iPad or a different device for remote learning.

Manitou Springs Middle School

The middle school will begin remote learning Thursday. Students will be at home while the staff teaches from campus. The district says Mr. Cady will provide specific instructions and expectations.

Manitou Springs High School

The district's high school is already following a remote learning model. At least one student has tested positive this week for the coronavirus, according to the district.

The school district says that the students who tested positive are already in quarantine and will remain home until notified. Students and faculty should monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms as well.
