Public health monitoring COVID-19 outbreak at Colorado Springs Walmart
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- El Paso County Public Health is monitoring an outbreak at the Walmart on Platte Avenue where 10 people have tested positive.
The outbreak was reported last Wednesday and is the second Walmart in Colorado Springs to report an outbreak.
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, in August the store near Powers and Palmer Park Boulevard reported 11 confirmed positive staff members and 19 staff with probable COVID-19 cases.
Outbreak data collected by the state is updated every Wednesday, this new outbreak has not yet been added.
The El Paso County Public Health Department initially reported 24 positive cases but later updated the number to 10.
Walmart Corporate Offices shared this statement in response:
“We’re pleased that further discussion with El Paso Public Health regarding confirmed cases in our store led to a correction of the number previously reported. We will continue to coordinate with their office and are grateful for their commitment to providing accurate information to the public.”
