El Paso County sees slight increase in COVID-19 infections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Over a two week period, El Paso County Public Health has added over 530 COVID-19 cases to make a total of 7,290 since the pandemic began in March.
In the two week period before 480 cases were reported, which means there has been an uptick of about 10%.

This begs the question: is there a growing infection rate in the county, and should we be concerned? By looking at our latest data you see its not a spike, but instead a slight increase.
As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, our two-week incidence was at 77.5, and the two-week test positivity rate was at 2.84%. If the incidence rate is over 75 for two weeks straight, EPC Public Health will need to start conversations with CDPHE about the possibility of shrinking capacity limits.
That means, as October begins, the virus is threatening to cut capacity from 175 indoors to 100, and 250 outdoors to 175.

On Sept. 30, 63 cases were reported, compared to 59 on the highest day in the previous two week period.
