Two motorcycle riders, including Fort Carson soldier, killed in head-on crash with Hummer
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two motorcycle riders were killed early Sunday after a head-on crash with a Hummer near Fountain.
Troopers were dispatched to reports of a fatal crash on northbound I-25 near milepost 135. After an initial investigation, troopers learned that a 2017 Harley Davidson was traveling southbound the wrong way on the northbound off-ramp to South Academy. A 2003 Hummer H2 was driving northbound on I-25 when the vehicles collided head-on.
The 42-year-old man driving the motorcycle and his passenger, a 39-year-old woman, were both killed in the crash. The driver of the Harley Davidson was a soldier stationed at Fort Carson, according to CSP.
The 63-year-old man driving the Hummer had minor injuries while his female 56-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. Both vehicles caught fire after the collision, troopers said.
CSP is still investigating but detectives say alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this fatal accident.
