GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KRDO) -- Fire officials say the Pine Gulch Fire grew to 81,107 acres Sunday morning and remains at 7% containment.

Much of the fire activity and growth happened in the southwest side of the wildfire about 15 miles north of Loma. Crews say the dry winds shifted to align with drainages, contributing to the growing blaze.

Crews say they are expecting fire activity to be very high Sunday and citizens should be prepared to see significant smoke today.

There are 754 people working to contain and extinguish the wildfire as of this writing.
