On the lookout: Woodland Park police look for sign vandal; and an accused auto thief is back on the run

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. (KRDO) -- Woodland Park police are searching for the man caught on camera altering a sign in front of a business.

On July 29th, around 9:25 p.m., an unknown male is seen walking up to the Alpine Firearms sign along Highway 24. The sign previously read, "Welcome to Woodland Park, where all lives matter."

The man is accused of stealing the letters from the bottom line saying "where all lives matter." Now the sign just says, "Welcome to Woodland Park."

Police say the unknown male could be charged with criminal mischief.

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Colorado Springs police say the man accused of stealing a vehicle and stopping for food along the way tried to turn himself in, but now he is back on the run.

In November 2019, police say an unknown male stole a 2015 Ford Taurus from the 2500 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue. His picture was taken from surveillance video at a Mexican restaurant on 21st Street.

After seeing his picture on KRDO's 'On the lookout' segment, he went to the Colorado Springs police operations center late at night. The detectives on this case were trying to meet with him to discuss the case, but since then, he has not turned himself in.

There is an active warrant out for his arrest.
