COSTILLA COUNTY, Colo. -- Colorado State Patrol is searching for the driver responsible for a crash just west of Alamosa on Saturday that sent multiple people to the hospital.

Authorities say it was a newer model silver Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that caused the crash. At around 10:20 a.m. the Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck was traveling west on Colorado 160. A white 2015 Ford Explorer which had a passenger were stopped in traffic westbound on Colorado 160 waiting to turn left onto Count Road 25. The pickup truck hit the back of the Explorer at an unknown speed but it moved it to eastbound lanes and crashed into a blue Hyundai Vera Cruz.

The driver of the pickup then left the scene and continued westbound following the crash. Both drivers and their passengers were taken by ambulance to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center for their injuries.  The driver of the Hyundai has serious injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. You are encouraged to call Sergeant Kelly Rippe from the Colorado State Patrol if you have any information at 719-589-5809.
