Paddleboarding explodes in Colorado during the pandemic
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Paddleboarding has exploded in popularity as a sport in Colorado this summer, driven by restrictions on other recreational activities caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Denver Post reports that for paddleboarders, it's a great way to beat the summer heat while also practicing social distancing. Enthusiasts note it’s accessible to people of all ages and doesn’t necessarily require a lot of athletic ability or fitness.
Some expert adventurers paddleboard on whitewater or set out on multi-day river trips. Local paddleboarding outfitters say it’s been hard to keep up with the demand for people wanting to buy boards this year.
