Suspect arrested in fatal hit-and-run in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department has arrested the driver who allegedly caused a fatal hit-and-run on June 2.

According to CSPD, 40-year-old Michael J. Estrada turned himself in and was booked into El Paso County Jail on Wednesday.

On June 2, CSPD responded to a crash just after 9 p.m. near North Academy Boulevard and Village Seven Road.

Officers found 55-year-old Edward G. Montelongo after he was hit by a dark-colored sedan, according to police. First responders began lifesaving measures, but Montelongo died from his injuries.

Estrada is facing a class three felony charge for leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
