8 day stretch of record-breaking heat comes to an end in southern Colorado

Starting April 26th Alamosa either tied or broke daily high temperatures records every single day. That is till today as they missed the mark by just one degree. Now that alone is a very impressive heat wave, but digging through the record books makes you realize just how impressive.

Mark Wankowski, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Pueblo said that 8 day stretch of broken daily high temperature records ties yet another record. That being the number of consecutive days with record breaking high temperatures, which was set back in July of 2003.

Now, this isn't necessarily something to be happy about as our current drought monitor is showing severe drought conditions for the majority of southern Colorado. Hot and dry, precisely what we don't want as we approach the summer fire months.
