New bill aims to accelerate veterans recovery with ‘outdoors therapy’
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A new bill introduced to the US Congress aims at getting veterans outdoors to promote their well-being.
It's called the Accelerating Vets Recovery Outdoors Act.
On Feb. 27, a group of veterans will be promoting the newly proposed bill -- H.R. 2435 -- that would "require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish an inter-agency task force on the use of public lands to provide medical treatment and therapy to veterans through outdoor recreation."
Supporters say the bill would promote outdoor therapy as a prescribed option in addition to traditional care.
