Officers rescue man from tree in Monument Valley Park

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - On Wednesday officers received a welfare check after an adult male reported to be in a tree shouting for help.

Police say the man was in a tree approximately 30 feet up where he balanced on a branch over frozen water. Officers asked the male to come down, but he refused.

After several hours, officers learned the male was under the influence of methamphetamine and was likely suffering from frost bite and hypothermia.

A bucket truck was used to safely get the man down from the tree so he could be taken to the hospital for treatment.

Criminal charges are pending at this time.
