COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is asking people to look out for two endangered missing siblings from Michigan who may be in Colorado.
CBI issued an Endangered Missing Alert on Tuesday, Jan. 28 for Bentley and Karley Dunkelberger, who were last seen in the northwestern side of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Bentley is 7 years old, 3'8'' and 46 pounds. He wears glasses and talks with a stutter.
Karley is 9 years old, 3'10" and 61 pounds. She has been diagnosed with autism.
Sergeant Todd Elliott, a detective for the Battle Creek Police Department, believes two may be located in the Denver metro area.
"We do have fairly reliable information that they've been in Colorado for at least the last day," he said.
Elliot says the two siblings are likely with their parents, Rebecca and Dennis Dunkelberger.
Authorities say the parents have been under the watch of Children's Protection Services in Michigan. By not reporting to the Department of Human Services, the couple is currently violating court orders.
"There's a history of domestic assaults between the parents and suspected drug abuse," Elliott said. "It doesn't appear that any of that is directly related to the kids."
Susan Medina, a CBI spokesperson, says at least one of the parent has custody over the children and the case doesn't meet the criteria for an amber alert.
"Of course we're always very fluid with these situations," Medina said. "We can always elevate to an amber if something comes across that the criteria is met."
Battle Creek Police says the family may be driving in a 2013 black Kia Sorento with a Michigan license plate of 4LUZ90.
If you see the adults or children, call 911 immediately.
